Project SHEMA
Project SHEMA (SHaring and Enriching through Multigenerational Activities) is an Abramson Center for Jewish Life program that brings together people of all ages for meaningful and mutually rewarding activities such as Shabbat and holiday celebrations; concerts, arts and crafts, gardening, pet therapy, special mitzvah projects, or just friendly visits and warm conversation.
Project SHEMA is an ideal way for bar and bat mitzvah students to fulfill their synagogues' mitzvah or community-service requirements. After three visits to the nursing home to take part with residents in Project SHEMA, these students receive beautiful certificates, to be presented in synagogue on their special day.
