What is home care?
Home care describes an array of health-related and homemaker services that can be brought into the home, enabling the care recipient to be in familiar surroundings.

Who can benefit from home care?
After a hospitalization or illness, patients of all ages often find that they need continuing care or therapy when they return home. Older adults who need help with everyday tasks, but who want to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, may benefit from home care. Anyone who is chronically ill, disabled, or who needs ongoing care that cannot be easily provided outside the home, may benefit from home care. Home care can be provided on a short-term or long-term basis.

What services do you provide?
Abramson Home Care clients receive the services of our team of caring, well-trained staff. Our team members include registered nurses (RN); licensed practical nurses (LPN); certified nursing assistants (CNA); home health aides; physical, occupational, and speech therapists; social workers; dietitians; homemakers; and companions. We are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and are Medicare certified.

Each client receives a care plan that is reviewed and updated as needed. All health care services are coordinated with the client’s prescribing physician. Families are an integral part of the care planning process as well.

We offer:

  • Skilled nursing care
  • Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
  • Medical social services
  • Orthopedic and cardiac aftercare
  • Wound care
  • Medication instruction
  • Education and counseling on health concerns
  • Help with personal care needs

  • Companions
  • Respite for family caregivers

Do you serve people of all faiths?
Yes. As a Jewish-sponsored organization, the Abramson Center is an experienced provider of care in keeping with Jewish traditions. As a non-sectarian program, Abramson Home Care honors the religious preferences of all clients.

Will my care be covered by insurance?
Services will be billed to the client’s health plan, Medicare, Medicaid, or long-term-care insurance where possible. Services not covered by insurance will be the client’s responsibility along with any applicable insurance co-payments or deductibles. For help evaluating your coverage, please call 215-371-3400 or toll-free at 1-888-340-0080.

How do I arrange for home care?
If you are recovering from an illness or hospitalization, you may ask your physician or the hospital discharge planner to arrange for you to receive care from the home care provider of your choice. If you are at home and are in need of home care services, or are unsure of your needs, we will be glad to speak with you about services that you may find helpful. To reach our home care coordinator, please call 215-371-3400 or toll-free at 1-888-340-0080.
