Share your passion
become a volunteer
Volunteers at the Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life share a passion for enhancing the lives of the seniors in our care.
If you have time to spare, following are a few suggestions about how you can help:
Friendly Visitors: read, play individual games, run group games and be good listeners.
Hospice Volunteers: assist our residents, as well as our hospice patients living in the community, by providing companionship, friendly visiting, and respite for family caregivers. Training provided.
Escorts: transport residents and patients to and from programs, beauty shop, meals, worship services.
Sewers and Menders: help mend residents’ clothes that are still in good condition, but need a face lift.
Librarians: assist in organizing and managing our library.
Multigenerational Activities: work with both children and seniors to help prepare and run artistic programs.
Football Lovers: if you love football and munchy Sunday food and enjoy watching with other fans, help organize our Football Club.
Office Support: assist with light filing and basic office tasks including some computer work.
General Activities and Games: play Bingo, checkers, chess, gin, bridge, Mah Jongg, pinochle, Scrabble - you name it.
Yiddish Club: converse, read and listen to music in Yiddish with our residents.
