ABRAMSON RESIDENCE
for Nursing and Alzheimers Care
The Abramson Residence
was designed to promote the dignity and independence of those who live here. Beautifully
furnished single-occupancy bedrooms offer residents privacy and room for cherished
possessions and treasured mementos.
All 324 bedrooms
have individual year-round climate control and are equipped with hookups for satellite
television and the Internet. A wireless nurse call system enables residents to talk
with staff while they are on their way to provide assistance. Wheelchair-accessible
bathrooms further encourage resident independence.
There are no long
hallways to navigate. Instead, bedrooms are arranged in clusters of nine around
a sitting area and den. Three clusters form a household and share an intimate dining
room, where residents enjoy meals tailored to meet their special needs. All food
served at the Abramson Residence is kosher and under Orthodox rabbinic supervision.
Households also share
a spacious living room, therapeutic kitchen and four-season porch, where residents
can socialize and participate in many of our recreational programs and activities.
Abundant greenery and live-in pets contribute to the homey atmosphere.
Caring staff is based
in the clusters, so residents really get to know the people who care for them.
In the Abramson Residence,
70 percent or more of the residents are seniors who qualify for Medical-assistance
grants from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This is a continuation and strengthening
of the Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life's mission to provide a
safety net for Jewish elderly with no financial resources.
