The state's Department of Aging has 52 local representatives called Area Agencies on Aging. There is roughly one agency per county. These agencies are intended to be a first point of contact for all eldercare questions. Their caseworkers can answer questions or provide referrals. This is a non-sectarian program providing information, referral, and counseling. The staff of social work professionals will educate, counsel, and arrange respite for family members caring for an older adult. The program specializes in issues related to Alzheimer's disease.

This program, licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, is for adults who need daytime care. This non-sectarian program provides a safe, supportive environment for social interaction and activities. Meals and assistance with medication are also available. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
