LibrarySince its creation in 1959, the library at Polisher Research Institute has collected works in gerontology and geriatrics, including the psychological, sociological, medical and economic aspects of aging. The library owns approximately 8,500 books, monographs, and reports and maintains a journal collection of over 350 active and archived titles. Reference, document delivery, and interlibrary loan services are available to staff and consortia partners. Use of the library's collection is available to the public in-house or through interlibrary loan.
      The Library is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please call for an appointment.
The library participates in Docline (LIBID: PAUPHA) and AccessPA (id: spgcp) for interlibrary loan services. We also accept requests from libraries by fax. Costs are charged to non-consortia members. The library is a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM), the Delaware Valley Information Consortium (DEVIC), the Basic Health Sciences Libraries Network (BHSL), Aging-Related Libraries Support Network (AGELIS), and the Philadelphia Regional Interlibrary Loan (PRILL) group. These memberships provide access to the collections of over 700 medical libraries as well as many small and medium-sized colleges and universities in the United States. In addition, the Library maintains reciprocal borrowing relationships with other gerontology libraries in the United States and Canada.
